Climate Council launch

This morning I’m psyched to join youth leader Ania Wright and my neighbor Ken Colburn at the inaugural meeting of the Maine Climate Council to which I am appointed as legislative representative to the Scientific and Technical working group.

Along with several others on the Council and its working groups, I am just stepping back to revitalize work that the state began back in 2003 and 2004 with the development of Maine’s first Climate Action Plan. That effort made Maine a leader at the time and resulted in the the successful and enduring Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative.

After this past week’s global demonstrations and the remarks of Governor Janet Mills at the United Nations, we understand that the the world again will be watching Maine for leadership.

Dirigo.
